The Plunder of Rabbah
(2 Samuel 12:26-31)
1And it came to pass, that afterthe yearwas expired,at the timethat kingsgo out[to battle], Joabled forththe powerof the army,and wastedthe countryof the childrenof Ammon,and cameand besiegedRabbah.But Davidtarriedat Jerusalem.And JoabsmoteRabbah,and destroyedit.2And Davidtookthe crownof their kingfrom off his head,and foundit to weigha talentof gold,and [there were] preciousstonesin it; and it was set upon David'shead:and he broughtalso exceedingmuchspoilout of the city.3And he brought outthe peoplethat [were] in it, and cut[them] with saws,and with harrowsof iron,and with axes.Even so dealtDavidwith all the citiesof the childrenof Ammon.And Davidand all the peoplereturnedto Jerusalem.

4And it came to pass after this,that there arosewarat Gezerwith the Philistines;at which timeSibbechaithe HushathiteslewSippai,[that was] of the childrenof the giant:and they were subdued.5And there was waragain with the Philistines;and Elhananthe sonof JairslewLahmithe brotherof Goliaththe Gittite,whose spearstaff[was] like a weaver'sbeam.6And yet again there was warat Gath,where was a manof [great] stature,whose fingersand toes[were] fourand twenty,six[on each hand], and six[on each foot]: and he also was the sonof the giant.7But when he defiedIsrael,Jonathanthe sonof ShimeaDavid'sbrotherslewhim.8Thesewere bornunto the giantin Gath;and they fellby the handof David,and by the handof his servants.
