Lawsuits among Believers
1Anyone of you having a matter against the other, dare he go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?2Or do you not know that saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you unworthy of the smallest of cases?3Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life?
4So indeed, if you have judgmentas to the things of this life, set you up those theones being despised in the church!5I say this to you for shame. Thus is there not one wiseman among you who will be able to decide in between his brother?6Instead, brother goes to law against brother, and this before unbelievers!
7Therefore indeed it is already altogether a defeat for you that you have lawsuits among one another. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded?8But you do wrong and defraud, and these things to brothers!
Members of Christ
9Or do you not know thatthe unrighteous ones will not inheritthe kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,10nor thieves, nor coveters, not drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inheritthe kingdom of God.11And someof you were such. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
12“All things are lawful to me,” but not all things do profit. “All things are lawful to me,” but I will not be mastered by anything.13“Foods for the belly and the belly for foods,” but God will destroy both this and these. Now the bodyis not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.14And by His power God has both raised up the Lord, and will raise us out.
15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Having taken then the members of the Christ, shall I makethem members of a prostitute? Never may it be!16Or do you not know that theone being joined to the prostitute is one body? For it says, “The two will become into one flesh.”a17But theone being joined to the Lord is one spirit.
The Temple of the Holy Spirit
(Romans 12:1-8; 1 Corinthians 3:16-18)
18Flee sexual immorality. Every sin, whatever if a man might do, is outside the body, but theone sinning sexually sins against the own body.19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have from God? And you are not your own,20for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.b
