It also indicates a moment of collective unity and purpose among the Levites, setting an example for the congregation.

the God of Israel,
This phrase reaffirms the covenant relationship between God and Israel, a central theme throughout the Old Testament. It underscores God's unique identity and His faithfulness to His chosen people. This covenant relationship is foundational to understanding the narrative of the Bible and is fulfilled in the New Testament through Jesus Christ, who establishes a new covenant with all believers.

shouting in a very loud voice.
The act of shouting in worship signifies exuberance and unrestrained joy. It reflects a deep, heartfelt response to God's greatness and deliverance. This expression of worship can be seen in other biblical instances, such as the fall of Jericho (Joshua 6:20) and the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:9). It demonstrates the power of vocal praise in spiritual warfare and victory, encouraging believers to express their faith boldly.

The Levites were the God-appointed worship leaders of Israel. In2 Chronicles 20, they step naturally into that calling.

•Numbers 18:5 reminds us that the Levites were “responsible for the care of the sanctuary.”

•Deuteronomy 10:8 says they were “to stand before the LORD to minister to Him and to bless in His name to this day.”

Here, their immediate reaction to God’s promise of victory is worship, showing how spiritual leadership sets the tone for the nation.

These two clans within Levi had distinguished musical and temple‐service histories.

•Numbers 4:4–15 assigns the Kohathites the holy task of carrying the most sacred objects of the tabernacle.

•Psalm 42, written by the “sons of Korah,” displays their heritage of heartfelt praise.

The presence of these families in the front line of worship underscores how God redeems and reuses entire lineages for His glory.

Their posture is intentional. Standing signifies readiness, respect, and public witness.

•Psalm 134:1 calls servants to “stand by night in the house of the LORD.”

•Nehemiah 9:5 shows Levites commanding Israel to “stand up and bless the LORD your God.”

In a moment of national crisis, the Levites physically rise, modeling faith that is active, not passive.

Praise is the immediate response to God’s Word delivered through Jahaziel (2 Chronicles 20:14-17).

•2 Chronicles 5:13 records how “the singers raised their voices in praise,” and God’s glory filled the temple.

•Psalm 22:3 reminds us that God “inhabits the praises of Israel,” linking praise with His manifest presence.

Their focus is clear—Yahweh, covenant God of Israel, is worthy of exaltation before any battle is fought.

Volume reflects conviction. Their loud praise reinforces confidence in God’s promise.

•Ezra 3:11-13 speaks of people shouting “with a great shout” as they lay the temple foundation.

•Psalm 47:1 commands, “Shout to God with a voice of triumph.”

Such exuberant worship drowns out fear and unites the community around God’s assured victory (2 Chronicles 20:22).

2 Chronicles 20:19 shows Levites—specifically Kohathites and Korahites—rising to lead Judah in bold, audible praise immediately after God’s promise of deliverance. Their standing posture, their lineage of worship, and their loud shouts all convey unwavering trust. This verse teaches that when God speaks, faith answers first with wholehearted worship, setting the stage for the victory He has already declared.

Of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites.--Sons of the Kohathites specifies the clan, andsons of the Korhites thehouse of the musicians who rose up on this occasion. The Korhites were the leading division of Kohath (1Chronicles 6:22).And is explanatory;even, namely some of the sons of Korah. The "sons of Korah" were a guild of Levitical minstrels of the first rank. (Comp. the headings of many psalms,e.g., 44-49, connecting them with their authorship.)
