Shark Island
Welcome to Shark Island, the exciting strategy tower defense game where you are the only survivor on a deserted island and must defend it from ferocious sharks! This game was created for the Brackeys Game Jam 2023.1, where it was developed in just one week.
Your mission is to protect your island from the vicious shark attacks and reach the highest level possible. The game features procedurally generated islands and tower defense gameplay, where you have to use your wits and strategy to survive. You start with only a spear and must use it to defend your island and defeat the attacking sharks. You can place cannons and repair your island as the sharks attack, earning 5 coins for every shark you kill.

Great game! Very rarely inspired to play after watching a Game Dev Youtuber but this I had to see and played for a decent amount of time. I agree with comments that I ended up saving coins for the renewed map at the sacrifice of tiles for the current island. Would be good to reward saving the current island to help defend the next.
This game is really well-made for having a seven-day time limit! I want to be a game-dev and this inspires me to do so, I like the game and you need to continue on updating it, maybe you could one or two more different towers to place with different stats like a quick archer and melee swordsman, I think you should keep the cannons but add human characters like manguy012 said and maybe some sort of other enemy like a jellyfish that can electrify tiles (you take damage or lose if you step on them) or stun you or your towers, I love this game I would rate it (as of 13 of April 2023) a 7/10.
Nice game entry! Enjoyed playing it, but I guess it still could be a bit easier regarding the increasing difficulty.
A few small things:
- it would be nice to “regain” a bit of the money you spend at the previous island
- a slight variation of the sharks would make a big difference (e.g. small (weak) and big (strong sharks)
- also some variation in weapons or so
- add a finish overlay
- and add some ambient stuff (wind, birds, a bit of variation in the water shader)
All in all, really nice game!
