Young’s extensive catalog—with many archival editions—is available in the U.S./worldwidehere, in Canadahere and in the U.K.here.
While I’ve always loved many of Neil’s albums and have seen him live a couple of times, once when he was fantastic, I’d have to say that as his most consistent trait is his wack-a-do-ness, especially within the context of touring, I believe you’d have to be pretty desperate to commit to playing with him, as he will, as has demonstrated, pulled the plug on shows or a tour at any given time that suits him. In the last show that I saw of his, which was his last tour with Crazy Horse in a sizable amphitheater, for whatever reason, he decided that he wanted the large video screens to be off the whole show. Consequently, except for the people up front, the rest of us had to watch a bunch of people watching a concert, while we saw a bunch of unrecognizable tiny figure up on a stage. If it wasn’t for his voice, it could have been anyone. I guess I shouldn’t complain as many people who had tickets for these shows found themselves without, as he decided to cancel midway through the tour supposedly because band or crew members were sick, though, supposedly, no one in Crazy Horse seemed to understand that at that time. Young just decides to stop whenever he just doesn’t feel like doing it anymore, despite the many, many people who have put their time, effort, and money into creating and attending his shows. I won’t be going to see him again.
