Our Programs

General Body Meetings (GBMs)

General Body Meetings are the most consistent and most prevalent events that we hold as an organization. General Body meetings serve to accomplish several goals. Promote Member Engagement, be a source of information for events and opportunities, and provide engaging programs that benefit members socially, academically, and/or professionally. These occur on Wednesdays at 5:15.

Technical Outreach & Community Help (T.O.R.C.H.)

Technical Outreach otherwise known as TORCH events is one of the Black Engineers Society’s forms of community outreach. In TORCH sessions BES members work with local 6-12 students to provide exposure to various STEM disciplines. These events occur twice each month on Saturdays.

Pre-Collegiate Initiative (PCI)

The Pre Collegiate Initiative Program is an opportunity that BES provides to 9-12 students to prepare for College and get deep personal insights into the college experience. This includes opportunities for College Student Shadowing and obtains assistance in finding a route to success in College.

Academic Excellence

Part of the Black Engineer Society’s mission is to support the academic success of members. Academic Excellence aims to create an environment for students to get the assistance they need to be well-rounded students. This includes study sessions, access to volunteer tutors, test banks, and study groups to improve academic understanding and achievement. Meetings Every Sunday at 2:30.

Black Hack

Black Hack is a Sub-Organization Sponsored by BES. Black Hack centered around everything and everyone interested in coding. Black Hack each meeting focuses on a workshop pertaining to the academic and professional development of a well-rounded coder. All Majors come and can code! Every other Tuesday at 5:30 pm.
