Gomorrah, also known as theDevourer of the Divine, is anInfernal Demon and a repeated summon seen throughout the series. A hostile creature that watches over its territory within Inferno, it is an aggressive dragon-like demon that is one of the favoured options Bayonetta summons.
Gomorrah eventually turns on Bayonetta and becomes a boss enemy during the events ofBayonetta 2. It returns inBayonetta 3 as both acontrollable summon and atransformation for Bayonetta to use in combat. It also has an evolved form known asSin Gomorrah, Font of Devastation.

Territorial, it is most likely to be found alone.
Relatively easy to handle if given angel flesh to chew on, Bayonetta summons it frequently, but anyone unaccustomed to the required magic is likely to get themselves swallowed instead, body and soul.
- Sin Gomorrah
This form resembles the legendary "Beast Tyrant", spoken of in forbidden tomes, a mountainous creature rumoured to live deep within the Johnson Forest of Inferno.
This Beast Tyrant was said to rule over all of the Gomorrah in Johnson Forest, and could make all of the demons in the forest bow by simply raising its head, but not even the residents of Inferno have managed to see it and live to tell the tale.

In the firstBayonetta, only Gomorrah's head and neck are seen due to it only being partially summoned through the portals. Gomorrah's dragon head has four glowing dots on either side that appear like eyes, and its mouth is lined with dozens of fangs that frame a twisted forked tongue. It has long serrated horns on its head, back, and down the sides of its body all the way to the end of its tail with a thick heavy chitinous hide that layers across its body similar to segmented plates of armor.
Upon Gomorrah's head is a strange crown-like ornament with what looks like a face set into the front of it. This is actually the demon'strue form with the dragon features only acting as a dummy.
In bothBayonetta 2 &3, Gomorrah's entire body can be seen as a massive black dragon-like beast, easily over one hundred feet in length from nose to tail. Though it is primarily black in color, it also has red and purple accents about its body. Unlike classic dragon designs, Gomorrah possesses six legs. Despite having multiple dragon-like features, Gomorrah seems to lack wings of any kind.
Story[]
Bayonetta[]
Gomorrah is one of Bayonetta's more common summons in the first game. It appears particularly during Climax Attacks against Beloved, proceeding to bite down furiously on the angel before crushing it to pieces between its mighty jaws.
Gomorrah also appears when it is summoned during Bayonetta's battle withFather Balder. Unfortunately, Balder is able to counter Gomorrah's assault by jamming its jaws open with a sphere of energy. He proceeds to exit the orb and smash Gomorrah's mouth shut on it, finishing off the wounded demon by snapping its neck, banishing it back to Inferno.
Bayonetta: Bloody Fate[]
In the anime adaptation, Gomorrah appears near the beginning of the film where it destroys a Beloved with its jaws like in the original game. It doesn't appear again until the climax of the film where Bayonetta attempts to summon it to combatJubileus. However, the deity quickly forms a blade of energy and pierces Gomorrah's head, mirroring its defeat at the hands of Balder from the game.
Bayonetta 2[]
Gomorrah returns during an angel attack in a city, in which Bayonetta summons it to finish off aBelief in a similar fashion to Beloved. However, the portal manifesting Gomorrah's head fails to close and the demon seizes the chance to escape and attack Bayonetta. Before it is able to harm its former master, Jeanne dives into the path of the attack and knocks Bayonetta away. Gomorrah's strike knocks Jeanne's soul from her body and she is pulled down intoInferno. A winged Bayonetta takes to the skies to fight Gomorrah, scaling up the side of the skyscraper as the demon attempts to savagely lunge at the witch. As the long battle comes to a conclusion, Bayonetta summonsLabolas and uses it to smash Gomorrah into the ground. After being killed by Labolas, Gommorah's body fades away and Labolas returns to Inferno.
Gomorrah reappears in Chapter XII where Bayonetta is running through Inferno onDiomedes to get toLoki. Gomorrah will attempt to obstruct Bayonetta's journey through the area twice and must be dodged to avoid incoming damage.
Gomorrah appears briefly in Chapter XIII at the climax of the battle against Beloved. After Bayonetta andRosa defeat the angel, Rosa summons Gomorrah along with Bayonetta summoning Labolas, where the two demons tear the angel apart.
Gomorrah's final appearance in the game is during the climax of the final battle againstLoptr/Aesir, whom by that point had all of his powers as Aesir removed by Loki. After Balder and Bayonetta summonOmne to kick Loptr's body off the top ofFimbulventr, Jeanne proceeds to summon Gomorrah on an incoming fighter jet. The demon waits patiently before snatching Loptr's physical body into its jaws, swallowing him whole.
Bayonetta 3[]
Gomorrah is initially summoned to dispatch aCumulonimbus, but shows no interest in attacking it, since the creature is not a native of Paradiso or Inferno. Before it has the chance to turn on Bayonetta again, she uses theDemon Slave technique to bind it to her will and forces it to kill the Homunculus. She later empowers it usingDeadly Sin to transform it into Sin Gomorrah, first againstArch-Iridescent and again againstSingularity Chaos.
Not long after Singularity's final defeat, the wounds Bayonetta sustained and exhaustion, cause herUmbran Watch to crack and fall off, causing her to lose control over Gommorah. With her powers failing, Gomorrah breaks free of Bayonetta's control and attacks her, removing her soul from her body, just as it did with Jeanne.Luka is able to banish the demon by assuming his Strider form and slashing its throat, but he cannot save Bayonetta and chooses to let himself be pulled into Inferno with her.
Abilities[]
As noted in the Book of Infernal Demons, Gomorrah's main strength is its combination of incredible biting power and aggression. It is able to pick up titanic angels and crush them easily between its jaws.
From Bayonetta 2 onwards, Gomorrah is able to release plumes of energy and fire (bright red in Bayonetta 2, blackish purple in Bayonetta 3) akin to a typical dragon. Gomorrah can shape that fire and energy into powerful laser beams, which can also be shot from its back plates.
Gomorrah also has a set of four clawed feet which are put to good use in battle, goring any enemies in it's way. This alongside it's tail and horns serve as powerful melee weapons.

Gomorrah only appears partially during Climax finishers against larger enemies, but is used in the same manner throughout the game.
Bayonetta 2[]
Gomorrah's appearance in gameplay is again limited to one singular Climax Summon. It reappears only at the end of the game, summoned byJeanne to devourAesir's body.
As an actual boss fight, the demon is able to breathe streams of crimson fire akin to a traditional dragon. It relies primarily on lunging bites, swipes with its massive claws, and huge sweeps with its powerful tail to do damage.
During the final phase of the fight against it, Gomorrah's variety of attacks increases and it displays incredible speed. It is capable of breathing in a vacuum with such intensity that Bayonetta cannot escape it, even with the assistance ofMalphas' wings. It is also shown to be able to vomit massive spheres of bloodied flesh and skulls at Bayonetta, similar to its fire-breathing attack from the first game.
If enough damage is done, Gommorah will become dazed and this is an opportunity to perform a Punish Attack on it. Bayonetta will pummel it's head and face with a barrage of Wicked Weaves from Madama Butterfly, Bayonetta's main demon partner. Madama Butterfly will then partially manifest and finish the job by headbutting it, sending it's face into the building, or reeling in the opposite direction if the attack is performed at the very top of it.
Bayonetta 3[]
Bayonetta fused with Gomorrah during Demon Masquerade
Demon Slave allows for Gomorrah to be fully summoned and controlled during combat, as well as during certain special large-scale battles and on-rail sections. The demon can lunge and bite at enemies on command, as well as summon streams of purple-hued fire in order to burn attackingHomunculi. One of its special abilities launches enemies into the air, priming them to be on the receiving end of one of Bayonetta'sTorture Attacks. While sluggish and slow to attack, Gomorrah's attacks deal significant damage and it is unlikely to flinch if hit by most enemy attacks.
Additionally, with Gomorrah now being linked to theG-Pillar weapon, Bayonetta is able to fuse with the Infernal Demon thanks to the Demon Masquerade skill when wielding the weapon. While under the effect of the Masquerade, Bayonetta's appearance changes to a demonic humanoid form with massive red claws and arms capable of spewing fire. This form also replaces Panther Within, with Bayonetta's newfound form instead pouncing in a beastlike manner on all fours.

- Clutches an enemy with massive jaws, following up with various attacks depending on enemy type. Enemies above a certain size can't be bitten at first, but they become vulnerable if stunned. Enemies that resist even after being bitten can be made susceptible to a follow up ground slam and toss by tapping any action button repeatedly.

Infernal Climax
Gomorrah appears inSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS & Wii U andSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate as part of Bayonetta's Final Smash, Infernal Climax. It is the only one of her Infernal Demons (besides Madama Butterfly) who appears at all in the series. After building up the meter upon initial activation, Bayonetta will summon Gomorrah to snatch up all enemies that were attacked and begin chewing them up as in the original games, only much shorter and less gory. Anyone at 100% or above will be instantly KO'd.

Trivia[]
- Gomorrah, and its sister city, Sodom, were two cities that appeared several times in biblical texts as cities wallowing in the sins of mankind. In the texts, divine judgment was passed upon Sodom and Gomorrah, and due to their unclean wickedness, the cities were consumed by the wrath of God in the form of fire and brimstone that rained from the skies.
- While Gomorrah's gender remains unconfirmed, it is implied by Bayonetta inBloody Fate to be male as she refers to it as "good boy."
- Gomorrah's name, saurian appearance, and elephantine roar are a reference to Ultra Series Kaiju Gomora.
