July 29, 2024: Metro Conference 1st Round of Playoffs @ JH Morgan Gym: MATCHUP PREVIEWS... 6:30pm – N5 MOAM (2-3) v. N4 Baseline-1 (2-3)… MOAM and the high scoring CJ Bennett face off against the oddity in Baseline-1, who has a roster that should produce each night, but tend to bog themselves down quite often. B1 got the best of MOAM in their pool game. We see who advances to take on #1 Nothing But Net on Wednesday. 7:30pm – N6 Blacktop (1-4) v. N3 BC Skyline (3-2)… When Blacktop has their entire roster, they are strong and have the ability to beat anyone in the SEBL, but so Skyline is very similar. Skyline started pool-play strong, but endured a couple of close losses in the last week, including an OT-loss to Summer Hill-1 yesterday.Justice Hayes (6'3''-F, college:Point, GA) and his bunch will be determined to get that rematch with SH1 on Wednesday night, as the winner of this one moves on to play the #2 North Seed. 8:30pm – S5 Wood Elite (1-4) v. S4 Hooper4Sho (2-3)… HS4 won the head-to-head pool game, but Wood Elite-1 has their full roster back together and could be tough to get by tonight. With WE-1 sharp-shooterQuinton Wood (6'0''-PG-1990, college:Reinhardt) back and the additions of bigmenBrigham Rogers (6'9''-F) andPierce Smith (6'8''-F), HS4 will have to have a big night from Kel Williams, Kayro Brown and their bigs will have to fight. 9:30pm – S6 NAN-Sy (0-5) v. S3 Team CBC (3-2)… An injury-riddled, roster depleted CBC squad will have to work to advance against a win-less NAN-sy team, that has the ability to compete when they feel like it. CBC started the summer strong, and were atop the South Standings for the first portion of the pool schedule, but their personnel woes may come back to haunt them.Dylan Wolle (6'3''-G) and Kyle Keener and Mason Bennett will have to produce a great deal in this one. Sy Brockington’s confidence alone will keep NAN competitive and if he gets some solid help, they could get their first win in an elimination tournament game. Mon. July 29, 2024: City Conference 1st Round of Playoffs @ Maurice Heard Gym: MATCHUP PREVIEWS... 7pm – E5 Conyers Alley (0-6) vs. E4 Sixers (1-5)… Makayle Sanders will look to put up big numbers again, as they battle a Conyers Alley team that can score points, but have not defended a full game to this point. If Stephen Hyppolite can getJayden Foster (6'4''-PF) and the other CA members to apply defensive pressure, they could have a prime opportunity to advance to take on East #1 SH-Warriors on Tuesday. 8pm – W5 Mechanicsville (2-4) vs. W4 BC Dragons (2-4)… The Dragons squeeked past Mechanicsville in their pool game a few weeks ago and this one could be another barn-burner. If Mechanicsville can get their troops to show back up, they compete with any team in the City Conference, especially if Shan Finley and Mike Reynolds are clicking. Dwight Hall and Drew Winegarden and VJ Saxton are going to have to come up with a solid performance across the board to advance to face West #1 SH-Blue Devils on Tuesday night.
