I was born and raised in Topeka until 2018, when I moved to Lawrence to pursue chemistry at KU. I initially studied chemical engineering, after being inspired by one of my favorite teachers. Ultimately, I landed on chemistry after a brief gap year in 2020. I intend to graduate in spring of 2025 (finally!). In my spare time I enjoy reading, and doing anything competitive, whether watching or participating (sports, board games, etc.), so this campaign should be engaging! In my life I have been very fortunate to have traveled extensively throughout the United States and a few times abroad. Traveling has taught me so many lessons, and I hope to continue to travel throughout my life. I will be the first to admit that I do not have a political background, however I think it is important that everyday citizens get involved in the political system. Together, let us demand accountability, transparency, and real progress from our elected officials. The future of Kansas depends on it.
  • I want to protect the unalienable right to receive a safe and medical abortion as guaranteed by the Kansas constitution and KS supreme court.
  • I believe affordable housing is the single most important issues facing our country at the moment. I want to implement a Land Value Tax as a replacement to Property tax to encourage efficient land use in urban and rural areas so that Kansans' can afford to live.
  • Over half of the state elections in Kansas went uncontested in the primary and general election in 2022. I think our political system works best when as many regular people get involved as possible. The health of our republic depends on it. I hope to inspire others to run for office themselves.
I am most passionate about promoting affordable housing. I think there are so many solutions that haven't been explored at the state level. I propose modifying state taxes to create a land value tax instead of property tax, to promote efficient land usage.
I believe the most important thing an elected official can do is to connect with their constituents. One on one conversations with voters is the single most important thing an elected official can do. I will strive to be approachable and in constant communication with my electorate.
One struggle for me is maintaining hope in our institutions and systems. It seems like the 24/7 news feed is constantly negative and preying on our fears to maintain our attention. It has been a challenge for me to not get bogged down by the constant weight of the world's problems, and to enjoy the successes that we have. It seems everyone has lost hope in our democracy and has become apathetic. I hope to renew trust and belief in our political system.
