William T. McCarthy
William T. McCarthy (1885-1964) was afederal judge for theUnited States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He joined the court in 1949 after an appointment fromHarry Truman. At the time of appointment, McCarthy served as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts. He assumedsenior status onMay 31, 1960, and continued serving until his death onApril 6, 1964.[1]

PresidentHarry Truman nominated McCarthy on January 13, 1949, to a seat vacated byArthur Healey; he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on January 31, 1949, and received commission onFebruary 2, 1949. He assumedsenior status onMay 31, 1960, and continued serving until his death onApril 6, 1964. McCarthy was succeeded in this position byAndrew Caffrey.[1]
