William Quarles
William D. Quarles, Jr. was anArticle III federal judge on theUnited States District Court for the District of Maryland. He joined the court in 2003 after being nominated by PresidentGeorge W. Bush (R) Quarles retired on February 1, 2016.[1]
Early life and education
Born inBaltimore, Maryland, Quarles earned his associate degree from the Community College of Baltimore in 1967 before graduating from the University of Maryland-College Park with his bachelor's degree in 1976. Quarles received hisJ.D. degree from the Catholic University of America in 1979.[1]

Quarles was nominated toUnited States District Court for the District of Maryland by President George W. Bush (R) onJanuary 7, 2003, to a seat vacated by JudgeWilliam M. Nickerson. Quarles was confirmed by the U.S. Senate onMarch 12, 2003, on a Senate vote and received his commission onMarch 14, 2003. He retired on February 1, 2016.[2][1]
