William Henry Sawtelle
William Henry Sawtelle (1868-1934) was afederal judge on theUnited States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and theUnited States District Court for the District of Arizona.

Judicial career
Ninth Circuit
Sawtelle was nominated by PresidentHerbert Hoover on January 8, 1931 to fill the seat vacated byFrank Sigel Dietrich. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 22nd, and received commission onJanuary 29th. He served until his death onDecember 17, 1934.[1]
District Arizona
Sawtelle was nominated by PresidentWoodrow Wilson on August 6, 1913 to fill the seat vacated byRichard Elihu Sloan. He was confirmed by the Senate onAugust 18th, and received commission that same day. He served on this court untilFebruary 6, 1931, when he was appointed to the Ninth Circuit.[1] Sawtelle was succeeded in this position byAlbert Morris Sames.
