William Hayes
William Hayes is afederal judge onsenior status with theUnited States District Court for the Southern District of California. He joined the court in 2003 after being nominated by PresidentGeorge W. Bush (R).[1] Hayes assumedsenior status on August 1, 2021.[2]
Early life and education
Hayes graduated from Syracuse University with his bachelor's degree in 1978 and also graduated from Syracuse University College of Law with hisJ.D. degree in 1983 and also graduated from the Syracuse University Graduate School of Business with his master's in business administration degree in 1983.[1]

- 1987-2003: Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney, Criminal Division, Southern District of California
- 1983-1986: Attorney in private practice[1]
Judicial career
Southern District of California
Hayes was nominated by PresidentGeorge W. Bush on May 1, 2003, to a new judgeship created by 116 Stat. 1758. Burns was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 2, 2003, on a super-majority 98-0-2 vote and received commission onOctober 6, 2003.[3]
