William Gardner Choate
William Gardner Choate (1830-1920) was afederal judge on theUnited States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
He was nominated by PresidentRutherford B. Hayes on March 14, 1878 to a seat vacated bySamuel Blatchford. He was confirmed by the Senate onMarch 25, 1878, and received commission that same day. He resigned onJune 1, 1881.[1] Choate was succeeded in this position byAddison Brown.
