William Cushing
William Cushing was an Associate Justice on theSupreme Court of the United States. He joined the court in 1789 after a nomination from PresidentGeorge Washington. He served until his death onSeptember 13, 1810. Prior to joining the court, Cushing he was the chief judge for theMassachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.[1]
Cushing was one of ten justices nominated to the Supreme Court by President Washington. He served duringThe Jay Court,The Rutledge Court,The Ellsworth Court andThe Marshall Court.[2]
Education
Cushing received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College in 1751. He received his legal education byreading law.[1]

Cushing was nominated by PresidentGeorge Washington onSeptember 24, 1789. He was confirmed by the Senate onSeptember 26, 1789, and received commission on September 27, 1789. Cushing served until his death onSeptember 13, 1810.[1] He was succeeded to this post by JusticeJoseph Story.
