State Sen.Ruben Kihuen (D) defeated Republican incumbentCresent Hardy,Steve Brown (L), andMike Little (Independent American) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Hardy defeated challengersMike Monroe andWayne Villines in the Republican primary, while Kihuen defeated seven other Democrats to win the nomination in the primary.
