Waverly D. Crenshaw Jr. is a judge on theUnited States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. A native ofNashville, Tennessee, Crenshaw earned his B.A. andJ.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1978 and 1981, respectively.[1]

Crenshaw was nominated to theUnited States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee on February 4, 2015. TheAmerican Bar Association rated CrenshawSubstantial Majority Well Qualified, Minority Qualified for the nomination.[5]

Crenshaw had a hearing before theSenate Judiciary Committee on June 10, 2015, and was reported to the fullSenate on July 9, 2015.[6]

On April 11, 2016, the Senate voted 92-0 to confirm Crenshaw's nomination. Crenshaw received his judicial commission on April 12, 2016. He has served as thechief judge of the district court since 2017.[2]
