Biography

Santos earned an undergraduate degree in political science and government from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1987 and aJ.D. from Harvard Law School.[2] Before assuming office, Santos served as a sole practitioner starting in 2014. She also served as regional director for judicial studies and regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean at the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training from 2011 to 2014. Santos was a senior legal advisor detailed to the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia, from 2007 to 2011. Santos also worked as an assistant U.S. attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California from 1995 to 2007, as a law clerk for Gilberto Gierbolini at the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico from 1993 to 1995, and as a deputy attorney general at the California Department of Justice from 1990 to 1993.[1]
