Impact of redistricting

The Vermont Legislative Apportionment Board approved new maps on August 11, 2011, with the legislature passing them in April 2012 and Gov.Peter Shumlin (D) signing them on May 1, 2012. The previous Senate map was largely based along county lines; Senate reapportionment chairwomanJeanette White (D) said the new map was designed to cause "the least disruption" possible. The standard deviation from ideal district size was about 18 percent.[3][4][5]

Qualifications

TheVermont Constitution states, "No person shall be elected a Representative or a Senator until the person has resided in this State two years, the last year of which shall be in the legislative district for which the person is elected."[6]
