Timothy Hillman
Timothy S. Hillman is afederal judge onsenior status with theUnited States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He joined the court in 2012 after an appointment from PresidentBarack Obama (D). He assumedsenior status on July 1, 2022.[1]
At the time of his appointment, Hillman was afederal magistrate judge for the court. He was first appointed to this position on February 13, 2006.[2]

Education
Judge Hillman was born in 1948 inChicago, Illinois. He received his B.A. degree from Coe College in 1970 and hisJ.D. degree from Suffolk University Law School in 1973.[2][1]

OnAugust 5, 2011, Senators John Kerry andScott Brown recommended to the President the nomination of Judge Hillman as district judge of theU.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts in Worcester.[4]
Obama officially nominated Hillman onNovember 30, 2011, to theUnited States District Court for the District of Massachusetts to fill the vacancy left byNancy Gertner.[5]
Hillman was rated "Unanimously Well Qualified" by theAmerican Bar Association. He had a hearing before theSenate Judiciary Committee on February 15, 2012, and you can find hisCommittee Questionnaire available here and hisQuestions for the Record available here.[6]
On June 4, 2012, the United StatesSenate confirmedTimothy Hillman to theUnited States District Court for the District of Massachusetts with a vote of 88-1.[7][8] He assumedsenior status on July 1, 2022.[1]

Hillman was appointed afederal magistrate judge for theUnited States District Court for the District of Massachusetts (Worcester Division) on February 13, 2006. He served until he was elevated to an Article III post for the district.[2][1]
