Biography
Thuy Tran served in the Oregon Air National Guard and reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Tran earned a B.S. in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1990, a doctor of optometry from Pacific University in 1994, and an M.B.A. from George Fox University in 2016.
Tran is a mother of three children. Her career experience includes working as the owner and optometrist for Rose City Vision Care. Tran also served as a board member of the Parkrose School District and of Family Forward Oregon. She has served as a Major in the Air National Guard, is a Lion's Club member, and is a past President and Vice President of the Vietnamese Community of Oregon.[1][2]

Tran was defeated byJessica Vega Pederson in the Democratic primary on May 15.Andrew Haynes also ran.Maggie Nelson ran unopposed in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012. Incumbent DemocratJefferson Smith did not seek re-election.[3]
