Thomas J. Bice was adistrict court judge ofDistrict 2B ofIowa. He was appointed to this position inNovember 2008. Bice was retained for a six-year term in the 2010 general election. He was retained again in the general election onNovember 8, 2016. He retired in April 2019 after reaching the mandatory retirement age in Iowa of 72 and assumed senior status.[1]

Biography

Bice received his bachelor's degree in 1969 from the University of Iowa and hisJ.D. in 1972 from the Drake University Law School. Licensed to practice law in Iowa on June 16, 1972, he worked as a private practice lawyer until his judicial appointment in 2008. Bice has served as the chair of the Iowa Board of Law Examiners (2004-2008).[2]

He served on the board of trustees for the National Conference of Bar Examiners. He is also a lifetime fellow of the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers, a judicial fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a member of the Iowa State Bar Association, and a past president of the Webster County Bar Association. As of September 2, 2016, there was no record of disciplinary orders against Bice from the Iowa Judicial Branch Office of Professional Regulation.[2][3]
