Thomas John Curran was anArticle III federal judge in theUnited States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He joined the court in 1983 after being nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan. He assumedsenior status on January 1, 1997, and served until his death on July 17, 2012.^[1]

Early life and education

Curran graduated from Marquette University with his bachelor's degree in 1945 and later graduated from Marquette University Law School with hisJ.D. degree in 1948 and also served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946.^[1]

Professional career

Curran spent his entire pre-judicial legal career as a private practice attorney licensed inWisconsin from 1948 to 1983.^[1]

Judicial career

Eastern District of Wisconsin

On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Robert Kasten, Curran was nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan onSeptember 20, 1983 to a seat vacated byMyron Gordon as Gordon assumedsenior status. Curran was confirmed by the U.S. Senate onNovember 4, 1983 and received commission onNovember 7, 1983. Curran later assumedsenior status onJanuary 1, 1997. Curran passed away on July 17, 2012.^[1] Curran was succeeded in this position byLynn Adelman.
