I have been married to my husband Mark for 36 years. We have 4 children and soon to be 17 grandchildren. Currently I am the CFO for Mickelsen Farms, LLC. I graduated from BYU-I with an associate degree in Economics. My community service has included the following: Trustee for College of Eastern Idaho, Idaho Farm Bureau State Director, Bonneville County Farm Bureau President, EIRMC Board of Director, Bonneville County Republican Women President, Legislative District 30 Chair, and the last 2 years as State Representative for 32A.
  • Border security is a key issue facing not only my district but the entire country. Securing our border and enforcing immigration laws must be a priority. All other industrialized nations protect their borders and enforce their immigration laws. Allowing this huge wave of undocumented immigrants is costing states significant stress. I will fight the Biden administration and hold them accountable to fix this problem. We need safe communities and that starts with not having a porous southern border.
  • My constituents are feeling the stress of Biden's poor economic policies. I will fight for good economic policies that don't diminish the value of a dollar. As a legislator, I will work for good economic policies that invest taxpayer dollars and keep taxes low.
  • Good police and public safety are an issue that is paramount to my voters. With the porous southern border, illegal drugs are flowing into our state. I have supported and will continue to fight for our state police and public safety funding. Now isn't the time to scrimp on our investment for those that keep us safe. I supported mandatory minimums for fentanyl dealers and will continue to support policies that are tough on crime.
In addition to securing our southern border, investing in our state police, and creating economic policies that create a robust economy; I am committed to Idaho's public schools. Our children are the future and we must invest in them to give them the greatest economic foundation for a strong and healthy future. Idaho's public education system is vital to giving children a hand up not a hand out. I will continue to support teachers and give them the necessary keys to help all children reach their full potential. Idaho's water is key to allowing agriculture, industry and cities future growth. I will continue to work toward solutions that will stabilize this critical resource and protect it for the next generation.
Integrity, honesty, and being a statesman are critical to an elected official. Having integrity means fulfilling our responsibilities and keeping our word. Integrity means standing up and out on issues that are critical to my constituents even when others follow the popular mood of the day. Having honesty as an elected officials means being willing to have the hard conversations and being truthful. So many of today's politicians have lost their constitution of truth. We must as a country do what is right and honest even when it is hard. I also believe that being a statesman is critical. When voting on policy we need to look at not what a political party is demanding but what do my constituents need and what is best. When looking at an issue a statesman will do not only what's best for their community but for their state and their country.
My first job was babysitting for about 5 years for a lovely family that then gave me the opportunity to work in their law firm after school. I've worked as a waitress and cleaned a bank to help pay my way to college. After college, I worked for the City of Idaho Falls as an accounts payable clerk. For the past 36 years I have helped my husband grow our potato farming business.
No I don't believe prior experience is essential for those wishing to serve in the legislature. I do believe that varied experiences in the private sector help make a better legislator.
Listening in on the hearing over private school tax credits was insightful. I was most impacted by the little retired ladies on fixed incomes and their opposition to funding private school with their tax dollars.
Idaho Fraternal Order of Police, Idaho Farm Bureau Federation Pac, Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry, NRA, Idaho Falls Fire Fighters PAC, Governor Brad Little, State Superintendent Debbie Critchfield, Brad & Andrea Hall, Lisa Burtenshaw, Jerry Hong, Randy Hughes, Mark Kerback, & many more
I'm on Revenue and Taxation, Resources, and Energy, Environment & Technology.
The state needs be 100% transparent. Tax payer dollars are sacred and should be spent with extreme care.

Scorecards

See also:State legislative scorecards andState legislative scorecards in Idaho

Ascorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
