  • I support Affordable Housing and capping the rental rates for seniors living in Senior living facilities. I introduced HR 1502 urging the senior living industry to implement rent control measures for our seniors living in these facilities.
  • I support improving healthcare access, which includes expanding Medicaid.I will continue to hold town hall meetings, send out newsletters of important issues that are taking place at the state capitol.
  • I am always accessible. I assist constituents, their family and friends who call, email, or visit me at the state capitol. I have always (and will continue to) provide my cell number and email to everyone. I support and I've hosted the Georgia Women Veterans at the Capitol. The Governor signed my bill into law HB 373 which designates September 11 of each year as 1st Responders Appreciation Day in Georgia.I brought money home to my district for the Darnell Senior Facility (Fulton County) and the Vinings Historic Preservation Society (Cobb County).
I care about better education for our children, improving healthcare access, and raising the minimum wage for workers in our state.
Working for all the people - regardless of their party affiliation.
I love working with people - talking with them and listening to them.

I am focused and I am a hard worker.
The legacy that I would like to leave is that I did something good for mankind and the state of Georgia.
The assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963. I was 7 years old.

The assassination of Martin Luther King in 1968. I was 12 years old.
I had my very first job when I was in high school. During the summer, I worked as a cashier at K-mart.
The words to Zip-a-dee-do-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!

as song by Louis Armstrong.

(I just used that song in my post, and I have been singing it every since)
The ideal relationship would be having a Governor that works closely with both parties.
Access to affordable housing, health care access, voting.
Of course. It is always beneficial to work across the aisle building relationships - and building relationships within your own party.
No, there is not a legislator that I would like to model myself after. I must say that I find it encouraging to see or read about the good works that other legislators are doing.
My greatest reward is knowing that I've made a difference in the lives of the people that I represent.

Each person has a different story - and they have all been touching.

Hearing he needs and concerns of our female veterans is touching.
I will always love the joke about Pete and Repeat that was told to me by my niece:

Pete and Repeat were in a boat. If Pete fell out who was left?

Repeat.

Pete and Repeat were in a boat. If Pete fell out who was left?....
I would continue to work on Affordable Housing Legislation,
I have received the endorsement of the Georgia Stonewall Democrats.
I am looking to receive more endorsements.
I serve on the following committees: Appropriations - Higher Education Subcommittee, Health, Juvenile Justice, and Transportation.

I am interested in other committees in the House because those committees will hear bills that have been assigned to their committees. That is where we get a chance to hear the bills debated before the reach the floor of the House. And, the committees is a place for the public to speak for or against legislation.
We have an Ethics Department and all elected officials and individuals seeking office much adhere to their guidelines.

Scorecards

See also:State legislative scorecards andState legislative scorecards in Georgia

Ascorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
