Sandra Townes was afederal judge onsenior status for theUnited States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She joined the court in 2004 after being nominated by PresidentGeorge W. Bush.[1] Townes assumedsenior status on May 1, 2015.[2] She passed away in 2018.[3]

Education

Townes graduated from Johnson C. Smith University with her bachelor's degree in 1966 and later graduated from Syracuse University College of Law with herJ.D. in 1976.[1]

Townes was nominated by PresidentGeorge W. Bush onAugust 1, 2003, to a seat vacated by JudgeSterling Johnson, Jr. Townes was confirmed onJune 3, 2004, on a 95-0-5 vote and received commission onAugust 2, 2004.[4] Townes assumedsenior status on May 1, 2015.[2]
