S. Arthur Spiegel was anArticle III federal judge for theUnited States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He joined the court in 1980 after being nominated by PresidentJimmy Carter. Spiegel served onsenior status until he passed away on December 31, 2014.[1]

Education

Spiegel earned his B.A. from the University of Cincinnati in 1942 and hisLL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1948.[2]

Judicial career

Southern District of Ohio

On the recommendation of Senators John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum, Spiegel was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on April 5, 1980. After a senate vote, Spiegel was confirmed on confirmed on May 20, 1980, and entered on duty onJune 5, 1980. OnJune 5, 1995, Spiegel assumedsenior status.[2] Spiegel passed away on December 31, 2014.[1]
