Roland Barrera was elected to Corpus Christi City Council serving District 3. Roland Barrera provides consulting and risk management services to individuals, business owners and public agencies. He has been serving clients with insurance, financial services and employee benefits for over 20 years. His agency has been recognized by the National Association of Health Underwriters as a Distinguished Member of the Leading Producers Round Table.

Roland has been actively involved in Texas politics for many years and has been a strong advocate for small business, insurance issues, children's issues, public transportation and immigration reform.

Roland serves as Board Member for the National Association of Health Underwriters Political Action Committee and as Board Vice Chair of the Texas Bridge Credit Union. In his career, Roland has served as Chair of several committees, including the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA), the Insurance and Financial Advisors Political Action Committee for Texas, and the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce. He was also President of the Coastal Bend Children's Advocacy Center and President of the Corpus Christi Kiwanis Club. Roland is a graduate of the Leadership Corpus Christi Program (Class XL).
  • Issues - In 2018, Roland promised the constituents of District 3 that he would prioritize infrastructure repair and economic development. In Roland's first two years in office, he initiated future economic projects and improved the roads and stormwater infrastructure throughout District 3. Roland remains dedicated to improving your streets and drainage, while continuing to bring high paying jobs into District 3.
  • Infrastructure - Roland is dedicated to improving the infrastructure of District 3. The residents of District 3 need repairs made to their residential streets, as well as, main roads in District 3 like Ayers St. and Everhart Rd. Roland knows that the people of District 3 rely on safe streets in order to go to work, take their kids to school, and do their daily activities. Roland will continue to obtain funding for your streets, stormwater drainage, and sidewalks.
  • Economic Development - Roland is committed to bring economic opportunities and high-paying jobs to the people of District 3. In order for the Corpus Christi to attract high-paying jobs for its residents, it needs to make an investment in the community. Roland will continue to work to bring economic opportunities to all parts of District 3, including new commercial developments, local small business enhancement, and creation of additional high-paying jobs.
Roland is very passionate about public transportation. He served on the Board of the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority for 8 years and as Chair for 2 of those years. Roland also believes a city must be walkable and friendly to pedestrians and cyclists to compliment a good public transportation system. An expert in the healthcare community, Roland also fights for access to healthcare for all members of our community.
