Robert Dale Morgan (1912-2002) was afederal judge for theUnited States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois and theUnited States District Court for the Central District of Illinois

Morgan was nominated to the Southern District of Illinois by PresidentLyndon Johnson on May 24, 1967, to a seat vacated byFrederick Mercer; he was confirmed by the Senate on June 12, 1967, and received commissionthat same day. From 1972-1979, he served as thechief judge. He served the Southern District of Illinois until he was reassigned to the Central District of Illinois onMarch 31, 1979. From 1979-1982, he served as thechief judge. He assumedsenior status onMay 28, 1982. He served the Central District of Illinois until his death onMay 29, 2002.[1] Morgan was succeeded in this position byMichael Mihm.
