Robert Lee Russell (1900-1955) was afederal judge on theUnited States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and theUnited States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.[1]

Judicial career
Fifth Circuit
Russell was nominated to the Fifth Circuit by PresidentHarry Truman on October 15, 1949, to a seat vacated bySamuel Hale Sibley; he was confirmed by the Senate on October 19, 1949, and received commissionOctober 21. He served until his death onJanuary 18, 1955.[1]
Northern District of Georgia
Russell was nominated to the Northern District of Georgia by PresidentFranklin Delano Roosevelt on August 5, 1940, to a new seat created by 54 Stat. 219; he was confirmed by the Senate on August 8, 1940, and received commission onAugust 15, 1940. He served aschief judge for a brief stint during 1949, untilOctober 26, 1949, when he was confirmed to a different court.[1] Russell was succeeded in this position byFrank Hooper.
