Robert Coyle
Robert Coyle was afederal judge for theUnited States District Court for the Eastern District of California. He joined the court in 1982 after being nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan. He assumed senior status on May 13, 1996 and served until his death on May 7, 2012.
Early life and education
A native ofCalifornia, Coyle graduated from Fresno State College with his bachelor's degree in 1953 and later graduated from the University of California-Hastings College of Law with his Juris Doctorate degree in 1956.
Professional career
Coyle began his legal career as a Deputy District Attorney forFresno County from 1956 to 1958 before spending the rest of his pre-judicial legal career as a private practice attorney licensed in the State ofCalifornia from 1958 to 1982.[1]

Eastern District of California
On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Pete Wilson Coyle was nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan on March 11, 1982 to a seat vacated byMyron Crocker as Crocker assumed senior status. Coyle was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 31, 1982 on a senate vote and received commission onApril 1, 1982. Coyle later assumed senior status onMay 13, 1996. He assumed senior status on May 13, 1996 and served until his death on May 7, 2012. Coyle was succeeded in this position byAnthony Ishii.
