Robert Heron Bork (1927-2012) was afederal judge on theUnited States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He was also nominated to theSupreme Court of the United States by Ronald Reagan in 1987, but the Senate rejected this nomination. He passed away on December 19, 2012.[1]

Bork was nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan on December 7, 1981, to a seat vacated byCarl McGowan; he was confirmed by the Senate on February 8, 1982, and received commission thenext day. He resigned onFebruary 5, 1988.[2]
