Robert Boochever
Robert Boochever was afederal appeals judge with theUnited States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit based in San Francisco. He joined the court in 1980 after being nominated by PresidentJimmy Carter and served it until his death in 2011.[1]
Early life and education
Boochever graduated from Cornell University with his bachelor's degree in 1939 and later graduated from Cornell Law School with a Doctorate in laws degree in 1941.[2]
Career
Boochever began his legal career as an Assistant U.S. attorney in theU.S. Attorney's Office for theDistrict of Alaska from 1946 to 1947 and also served as a private practice attorney licensed in the State ofAlaska from 1947 to 1972 before joining theAlaska Supreme Court as an associate justice from 1972 to 1980 and served two years as the Chief Justice of Alaska from 1975 to 1978.[2]
Federal judicial career
Boochever was nominated by PresidentJimmy Carter on May 22, 1980 to a seat vacated byShirley Hufstedler. Boochever was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on June 18, 1980 on a Senate vote and received commission onJune 18, 1980. Boochever assumed senior status onJune 10, 1986 and continued serving in that capacity until his death on October 9, 2011.[2]
