Richard Paul Conaboy was afederal judge on theUnited States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He joined the court in 1979 after being nominated by PresidentJimmy Carter (D). He assumedsenior status on September 1, 1992. His service ended on November 9, 2018, when he died.

Early life and education

A native ofScranton, Pennsylvania, Conaboy graduated from the University of Scranton with his bachelor's degree in 1945 and from the Catholic University of America's Columbus School of Law with hisLL.B. in 1950.[1]

Military service

Conaboy served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant from 1945 to 1947.[1]

Conaboy was nominated by PresidentJimmy Carter on May 29, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629. Conaboy was confirmed by theU.S. Senate on July 23, 1979, and he received his commission onJuly 24, 1979. Conaboy served as thechief judge of the court from 1989 to 1992. He elected to takesenior status beginning onSeptember 1, 1992. Conaboy died on November 9, 2018.[1] Conaboy was succeeded in this position by JudgeRichard Caputo.
