Peter Leisure was afederal judge with theUnited States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He joined the court in 1984 after being nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan (R). He assumedsenior status on March 21, 1997. His service ended on September 17, 2013, upon his death.[1]

Education

Peter Leisure was born inNew York, New York in 1929. He earned a bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1952. He earned anLL.B from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1958. He attended Columbia Law School.[1]

Military service

Leisure served as a U.S. Army Lieutenant in Artillery from 1953 to 1955.[1]

On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Al D'Amato, Leisure was nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan onMay 25, 1984, to a seat vacated byMilton Pollack. Leisure was confirmed by theU.S. Senate onJune 15, 1984, on a senate vote and received commission onJune 15, 1984. Keenan assumedsenior status onMarch 21, 1997.[1]
