Owen Roberts
Owen Josephus Roberts (1875-1955) was an Associate Justice on theSupreme Court of the United States. He was nominated by PresidentHerbert Hoover on May 9, 1930. Roberts resigned onJuly 31, 1945.[1]
Roberts was one of four justices nominated to the Supreme Court by President Hoover, though only three justices were confirmed. Roberts served duringThe Taft Court,The Hughes Court andThe Stone Court.[2]
Education
Roberts received an A.B. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1895 and aJ.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1898.[1]

Federal judicial career
Roberts was nominated to the Supreme Court by PresidentHerbert Hoover on May 9, 1930, to fill the seat vacated by JusticeEdward Terry Sanford. Roberts was confirmed by the Senate on May 20, 1930, and received commission that same day. He resigned from the court on July 31, 1945.[1]
