Structure
Mission
The mission statement of the Oregon Department of Education reads:[1]

Superintendent
The current Oregon Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction isCharlene Williams (nonpartisan). Williams assumed office in 2023.
State Board of Education
The State Board of Education is composed of nine members that are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the State Senate. Six members represent each of the five Congressional district and the remaining three members are appointed at-large. Members are appointed to serve four year terms and are limited to two consecutive terms. The Board is responsible for setting educational policies and standards for Oregon's public schools, community colleges and 19 educational service districts.[3]
