Structure
Mission
The mission statement of the Oklahoma State Department of Education reads:[1]

Superintendent
The current Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction isLindel Fields (R). Fields assumed office in 2025.
State Board of Education
The State Board of Education is the governing board of the public school system of the state of Oklahoma. The Board is composed of six members and theSuperintendent of Education. The six members are appointed by the Governor with the consent of the Oklahoma Senate.[3] Members serve four year terms. Members are required to have a high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency.[4]
