Structure
Mission
As of 2024, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce had no mission statement, but their website read:[1]

Superintendent
The current Ohio Superintendent of Public Instruction isPaul Craft (nonpartisan). Craft assumed office in 2024.
State Board of Education
The Ohio State Board of Education is composed of 19 members serving four-year terms. 11 members are elected from each of the eleven single member districts and eight are appointed by the Governor. TheSuperintendent of Education serves as secretary of the State Board of Education. The Board creates policy and makes recommendations for K-12 education in Ohio. The chairs of the education committees of the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate serve as non-voting ex officio members.[3]
