2016

Duran's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[6]

Invest in education

  • Excerpt: "The well-being and education of our children should be our state’s highest priority, especially when it comes to the investment of public resources in programs that make a real difference in the lives and futures of children."

Protect our environment

  • Excerpt: "Sea Level Rise is an imminent threat and consequence of global warming. Without innovation and planning it will threaten trillions of dollars of the region’s built environment, our future water supply, our unique natural resources, our agricultural soils, and our basic economy.

Expand affordable healthcare

  • Excerpt: "Expanding access to health care for hard-working Floridians and our veterans, will create jobs, keep Florida families healthy and more economically secure."

Common sense gun laws

  • Excerpt: "It’s time for common sense gun safety laws. Duran believes assault weapons have no place in our communities; in the legislature, he will fight to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill, convicted criminals, and away from Florida’s schools."

Scorecards

See also:State legislative scorecards andState legislative scorecards in Florida

Ascorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
