New Hampshire Gender-Neutral Language Amendment (1998)
TheNew Hampshire Gender Neutral Language Amendment, also known asQuestion 2, was on the ballot inNew Hampshire onNovember 3, 1998, as alegislatively referred constitutional amendment. It wasdefeated. It proposed to make the constitution more inclusive by incorporating gender-neutral terms when referring to the governor and others.[1]

Note: Although this measure gathered more "yes" votes, it did not pass because New Hampshire requires that an amendment receive greater than two-thirds of the vote to be approved.
