Montana is holding an election for two of five seats on theMontana Public Service Commission onNovember 3, 2026. The primary is June 2, 2026. The filing deadline is March 4, 2026.
Heading into the elections, Republicans control all five seats. In2024, Republicans won all three seats that were up for election despite six-figuresatellite spending against incumbentJennifer Fielder (R).[1] The 2026 races also follow a 2025 court ruling that the commission's district boundaries were constitutional, though they favored Republican candidates.[2]
Ten states choose commissioners by partisan election. Seven are holding elections in 2026. Heading into the 2026 elections, Republicans control all 10 commissions that use partisan elections.
Of the seven commissions holding elections in 2026, Republicans control 26 seats to Democrats’ two.
