Biography

Michelle Yener earned a high school diploma from St. Agnes. Yener earned a graduate degree from the University of Minnesota - Duluth and a graduate degree in education from Saint Mary's University. Her career experience includes working as the Associate Director for Curriculum in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, an education data and quality assurance analyst with Capella University, an education and training manager with Hmong American Partnership, a school program administrator with Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, and an English language instructor with Isik University in Sile, Turkey.

She has been affiliated with theMinnesota Department of Education's Online & Digital Learning Advisory Council and the North-St. Paul - Maplewood - Oakdale Schoolboard.[1][2]

Our district is fortunate to have a supportive community and highly-qualified teachers. Most of our students are thriving and every effort is made to help students in need. There is so much parental engagement at school events that it is often hard to find a place to sit. However, there is room for improvement. Our student achievement scores are too low and our “gap” is too high. Time-consuming legislative demands (standards, teacher evaluations, standardized tests) bring measurement and accountability, but not solutions. We must continue to find innovative ways to increase student achievement and prepare each one of our students for success.[4]
