Michael Stafford
Michael Stafford was a 2011Republican candidate forDistrict 17 of theMississippi House of Representatives.
Stafford is a master machine builder, though according to NEMS360.com, he was unemployed as of June 23, 2011.[1] He served in Iraq as part of the Mississippi National Guard (155th Infantry Regiment), where he lost a leg in the line of duty.
Political positions
Stafford said he made the decision to run while recuperating from the injuries he sustained in Iraq at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He claimed that he called incumbentBrian Aldridge for assistance but never heard back; afterwards, he decided to make a run for Aldridge's seat to "show him how to help people."[1]
He told news website NEMS360 that he supported a bill to "put prayer back in the schools," and criticized his opponent, Aldridge, for voting against fully funding state public schools during his time in office.
