Melvin Brunetti
Melvin T. Brunetti (b. Nov. 11, 1933) was afederal appeals judge with theUnited States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit based in San Francisco. He joined the court in 1985 after being nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan. Brunetti passed away onOctober 30, 2009.[1]
Education
Brunett graduated from University of California, Hastings with hisJ.D. in 1964 and also served as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard from 1954 to 1956.[2]
Career
Brunetti was a private practice lawyer in the State ofNevada from 1964 to 1985 and also served as a member of the Council of Legal Advisors to theRepublican National Committee from 1982 to 1985.[2]
Federal judicial career
Brunetti was nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan on February 26, 1985 to a seat vacated byHerbert Choy. Brunetti was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 3, 1985 on a Senate vote and received commission onApril 4, 1985. Brunetti assumedsenior status onNovember 11, 1999 where he served until his death.[2]
