Thesignature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 13, 2014.Mary Elizabeth Seals was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbentElisabeth Sanders defeatedShawn Patrick O'Neil in the Republican primary. Sanders and O'Neil tied at 250 votes in the Republican primary. Sanders won a tiebreaker, and a recount was held to the same result, leaving Sanders as the winner.[1][2][3] Sanders defeated Seals in the general election, and was re-elected for another term.[4]
