Margie Wakefield was a 2014Democratic Party candidate who sought election to theU.S. House to representthe 2nd Congressional District ofKansas.^[1] She was defeated by incumbentLynn Jenkins (R) in the general election.^[2] She ran unopposed in theDemocratic primary on August 5, 2014.

Biography

Wakefield had been active in politics from a young age. After graduating from college in 1980, she worked in the Topeka, KS, office of then Senator Bob Dole. She was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, a precinct committee person, and a chair of the Douglass County Democratic Party.^[1]

Wakefield has also worked as a practicing attorney at a law office in Lawrence, Kansas.^[3]
