Maine 1996 ballot measures
Nine statewide ballot measures were on theJune 11 andNovember 5, 1996 ballots inMaine.
- Five of the measures werelegislatively referred bond questions.
- Three of the measures wereindirect initiated state statutes.
- One of the measures was alegislatively referred constitutional amendments.
- All of the measures were approved, with one measure being a choice between three options.
One of theindirect initiated state statutes on the November 5 ballot was a choice between the initiated measure, a competing measure from the legislature and no to both of those options. The competing measure was chosen by the voters, but because it received less than half of the total votes on the matter, it was referred as a single measure on theNovember 4, 1997 ballot, where it was defeated.
