Youngdahl was nominated by PresidentHarry Truman on July 6, 1951, to a seat vacated byThomas Goldsborough; he was confirmed by the Senate on August 28, 1951, and received his commission onAugust 29th. He assumedsenior status onMay 29, 1966, and served in that capacity until his death onJune 21, 1978.[1]
