Lloyd George was anArticle III federal judge for theUnited States District Court for the District of Nevada. He joined the court in 1984 after being nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan (R). George assumedsenior status on December 1, 1997. His service ended on October 7, 2020, when he died.

Early Life and Education

A native ofIdaho, George graduated from Brigham Young University with his bachelor's degree in 1955 and later graduated from the University of California-Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law with hisJ.D. in 1961. George also served in the US Air Force from 1955 to 1958.

Professional career

George started his legal career as a private practice attorney licensed in the State ofNevada from 1961 to 1974 and also served as a justice of the peace forClark County from 1962 to 1969.

Judicial career

Bankruptcy Judge

George started his federal judicial career as federal bankruptcy judge. George was appointed to theUnited States District Court for the District of Nevada in 1974 to a fourteen-year term and served as a bankruptcy judge until 1984 when George was elevated as an Artcle III Judge. George also served as a member of the Ninth Circuit U.S. Bankruptcy Appellate Reviews Panel from 1980 to 1984.

George was nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan (R) on April 18, 1984, to a seat vacated byRoger Foley as Foley assumed senior status. George was confirmed by the U.S.Senate on April 30, 1984, and received commission onMay 3, 1984. George served as chief judge of the court from 1992 to 1997 before assumingsenior status onDecember 1, 1997. His service ended on October 7, 2020, when he died.[1]

George was succeeded in this position byJohnnie Rawlinson.[1]
